Comics

So, I have had this secret (and not so secret) love for comic strip art FOREVER!  I secretly would love to try it, and I make cheesy comics during my "breaks" from my illustrating job, then I show them to my husband and see if he laughs.

Once again, I LOVE dancing!...and country music, so I was bound to do something like this sometime....
Once again, I love dancing.  This was part of my three part series for my Color II final
Part 2
Acrylic on wood panel. part 1
This was my final for my Intro to Illustration class.  I plan to lighten the poster, but I wanted to show the the piece I turned in.  We opened fortune cookies and did our illustrations on the fortune.  Mine said "If you do not run your subconscious mind yourself, someone else will."  My painting depicts women of all ages following, mindlessly or knowingly, the trends of today.
Ok, so I happen to love pirates!  This is another fun piece I did last fall.  We painting "warm"colors, then put packaging tape over our image and painting the "cool" light on top. I love the result, kind of a gritty, piratey feel!
I have always been totally fascinated by dancing.  It is a performing art, a visual art and an athletic event all rolled into one.  I can't dance very well myself, but I love to capture the gestures with paint.
This painting I did last fall.  It is a fun technique where we painted a picture in gauche' and then covered the entire thing in black ink.  After the ink dried, we held the painting under the faucet, and the ink came off the parts of the painting that were really thick and opaque and stayed where we left it thin or didn't paint at all.  It was a fun project, you never know what you are going to get!
